This type of clock dates back to about 1500 and was first seen in Germany.

Improvements in movement design made at that time meant that clocks can be easily placed on tables or bookshelves or wherever a relatively smaller clock is needed.

Table clocks come in a variety of shapes, designs and materials too numerous to mention. They find themselves ideally suited for every room in the house.

Most clocks have the added convenience of being battery driven.
